Jordanian F-104 - Help?

I know this is a longshot, but maybe someone in this forum can help.

A friend, Pete Wilson, recently went to the Mid-East. On a bus in Jordan, he spotted this Starfighter displayed in a roundabout in a small Jordanian town. He has no idea what the town was, and is interested in any information we can find on this aircraft and its location. Any help?

The RJAF got 29 A's and 4 B's from, and closely controlled by, the USAF under a 1967 MAP program. Aircraft temporarliy sent to Turkey during the 6 day war. Replaced by F-5's and Mirage F-1's by 1983. 2 squadrons, #9 Sqn @ Prince Hassan Air Base and #25 Sqn @ Mwaffaq Salti Air Base.

Looks like a B model and the arabic serial looks to be 903 but not sure. Andy Marden compiler of World Military Out of Service may know more and he is on this site.

Thanks for the help, we've got it identified. It is F-104B 902, one of 4 two seat models provided to the RJAF in 1967.

For a small country, Jordan has a lot of aircraft preserved around it. This is one of 9 F-104s listed as being located in the country now.

No, those co-ordinates are not correct.

Andy...we are both correct.......there are two round-abouts and two Starfighters.......pretty amazing.....check it out

Back in 1990 to about 1992 when I went there frequently, at Danelly Field in Montgomery Alabama there was about six of these ex jordanian F-104s that were parked on the air side of the fence just to the north of the small terminal. I had airside access and took a look at them. I remember that most were A models but there was at least one B model. The fuselages without the tail sections and wings were outside whilst the wings were in wooden racks and the tails were stacked inside the hangar that was just to the west of the fuselages. I think the name of the outfit that owned them was called northern lights. Supposedly they had one that flew from time to time out of there but I never saw it. The runway has cables for the ANG F-16s so that is why they used that airport as it was a public airfield with cables which is rare. The jordanian markings were clearly visible as was the USAF data block showing them to be a and b model(s). It looked to me that all could be made airworthy with some elbow grease.
