This B-52 crash site is quite well known but photos are rarely published. These good ones have just appeared on a British aircraft spotters' forum.

Interesting...... :-| ....I think.

It makes me wonder when we'll start looking across Korea and Vietnam for warbirds wrecks. There has got to be alot of Skyraiders in the South.

South Korea has pretty well been cleaned out by now I would say. They had pretty much stripped all the forests by the time the Japanese invaded. The Japanese actually tried to start replanting trees, one of the few good things to come out of the occupation. However that didn't last long due to the war. And then came the partition, and then the Northern invasion so replanting wasn't really a possibility. After the war South Korea was much more interested in rebuilding its farming and industry than its forestry, as wood could be imported cheaper from Indonesia than it was grown and they were trying to prevent starvation so farm land was at a premium. They started replanting a decade or so after the war but it wasn't until the 80's that Korea had anything like a real forest again (They are now considered the best example of reforestation). So there weren't any forests to hide the downed aircraft from the scrappers. I'd bet North Korea is even worse. They're eating dirt up there. Anything metallic that could be turned into something useful is long gone. Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, now those are the places I would be looking for aircraft. As far as I know Air America left their wrecks where they went down--I'm sure other posters know mounds more about it than me.

Thanks, Mike, I'll post that link on the Brit site. Apart from that, your website is well worth a close look.

Vietnam would be the place to look. At one of the Vietnam AFB's you can see 8-12 Skyraiders parked in a corner lot.
