Interesting. Mr. Zamperini's memoirs were published back in 2003 under the title Devil at My Heels. Senator John McCain even wrote the foreward to it. I wonder who decided that Ms. Hillenbrand's melodramatic touch was needed to retell the story?

Gp, the real question is: "Have you read what I have read?"

The Louis Zamperini story is a fascinating one. It's also a story that has already been committed to print...in considerable detail.

Although I am reluctant to send you my copy of Devil at My Heels, you are able to read a few excerpts courtesy of Amazon.

By now you have also probably reasoned that I am a fairly independently-minded lemming. In other words, I don't follow the queue off cliffs just because the pathway is well-used. My opinion holds: Ms. Hillenbrand's writing style is not a personal favorite. I am entirely happy with your (and others') apparent disagreement with my opinion.

I cannot and will not begin to speculate on Ms. Hillebrand's motives for rewriting the Louis Zamperini story.

I am also quite done posting on this thread.

Good day to all WIXers! :drink3:
