I appear to have lost my camera case/bag thing at Chino. Luckily all that was in it was a $10 empty memory stick.. I'm guessing right where I was parked as the only time I handled it was at my truck, which was right next to the gate to the tower on that small patch of grass....so if anyone tripped over it....

Interesting as I believe I read this P-40 was going to be 'static only' and when I looked at it at Chino 'static' would be a reasonable statement. Hope I'm wrong and as I seem to understand, isn't The Fighter Collection usually all about "flying examples?" keep fingers crossed.

Beautiful machine.
You can't have looked at it very closely then. This is anything but a static.

My first thought was, "But why would they want two?" Then I looked at the pics again. Never mind!

I am so very lost right now. It may be my young, inexperienced eyes but I can see no identifying marks anywhere, let alone that beautiful cowl.
I can understand if the owner wishes to remain anonymous, but man oh man this is frustrating for we overseas who would like to know and it seems some do.

There were identifying marks on the airframe if you know where to look.
The Forty Cowl thing is something of a red herring by ZRX61 though.

Yes I heard TFC, the one in Torrance went to TFC then I think that went to FHC. Matt usually doesn't build static airplanes, this will fly soon.

Wrong one, the one that went to FHC is a P-40C. It was the one that came almost intact out of Russia, and was rebuilt by Fighter Rebuilders. The Torrance one that was done by Matt Nightingale is a P-40B, which is now with TFC at Duxford.

They also don't have an example of this type in RAF markings with a shark mouth either

Would you cover all that pretty shininess?!?!? Besides once they have this P-40 in the UK I can only imagine the photo flight with the C model they already have. It will be very reminiscent of the air to air shoot of Glacier Girl and White Lightening. Which makes me think that this polished P-40 would look pretty good next to the Red Bull P-38.

Though I'd hate to see a flyable P-40B go so far away from home.
