If kids would read as well as see movies and play video games I think they would have a much better understanding of history in general.

There should be a large dislaimer on this movie stating that it is "lightly based on factual events and mostly based on stuff to garner a larger audience and more money"

While I have not seen Red Tails yet I did have the opportunity to meet Tuskegee Airmen Lt. Col. Eldridge Williams when he visited us at Miami Tower yesterday.

I got the DVD yesterday. It's just the movie only, no behind the scenes anything or deleted scenes. Only a documentary that doesn't give you any info that you probably didn't already know. The sound was pitiful, I actually had to turn the volume up in the action scenes!

I bought the Blu Ray today and will probably be watching it this weekend. Hopefully the Blu Ray version is better.

As it goes, I think it is a good, entertaining movie. As a historical document, no, sorry, it doesn't compute. I have had the honor of meeting several Tuskeegee Airmen at different shows and none that I have met could be related to the characters in the movie. I'm sure there were men that stood out from the crowd, for various reasons, but from those I have met, they were all professional pilots and did one hell-of-a job.

Just got the blu-ray. The blu-ray includes some special features, including the full documentary "Double Victory". Overall I thought it looked great, but I did notice some mpeg artifacts around the faster moving aircraft in a few places, although that could have simply been my LCD TV struggling to keep up. I suppose that's unavoidable in a movie with so much movement in it. The audio was great. (I honestly think blu-ray audio is a better reason to upgrade than the video, if you have a decent sound system.)

Same silly movie, but if you can forgive Top Gun, there is no reason not to own this one, too.

I'll probably pick it up when it goes on sale. It was a little corny, but not any more than some of the 1960s war movies, or the overly heroic John Wayne movies. There were some parts where the CGI was absolutely breathtaking, and others where it struggled a bit. I think that happens in just about every movie where a lot of CGI is involved though. I enjoyed it for what it was.

It wasn't a documentary, and that made some people grumpy and bitter because they don't know how to be entertained. To put a long story short.
