The Asas de um Sonho museum in Brazil, has this Corsair on display.

The owner of the museum decided to paint the prop-hub and other parts in "yellow" because he thought that it looked better that way . . .

I heard about engine runs, but no, as far as flying goes, I believe it has been grounded, not due to any technical problem.

Yes it is grounded and it is very sad that this rare early machine was grounded - the only flying birdcage machine as far as I know - It was also sad it left NZ given their use of the type - I know they now have another but it was a significant loss to Warbirds there

This maybe true John, but New Zealand now has a Corsair with New Zealand Airforce history rather than American history.

I've heard a rumor that someone is trying to work out a swap with the Brazil Guys they would get a Static Corsair and Mustang in return for the Bird Cage.

I heard this while I was at the Corsair gathering from three well place Warbird Guys.

I believe the Planes of Fame example was delivered as a birdcage, but was rebuilt by Vought to the later configuration.

Well it's been a long time coming and where once there were no Corsairs we could well see 4 or maybe just 3 in the coming years - I personally think we are double counting here and there are only two coming in - the Flyer and the Yeagan cut spar machine Murray is going to do - I would love to be proven wrong though - go on I dare you !!!

Once someone (Perhaps Murray?) starts turning out spars I think there will be an explosion in te population of these aircraft - very popular machines at airshows and just so awsome to look at. So I wouldn't worry TimApNy I think there will be enough to go around

I was counting in the Warbird Directory the other night and came up with around 88 machines extant....anyone got a more current count including new restorations (warbird directory #3, a few years past its prime)....I reckon before long we'll pass 100 machines restored to static or flying before long, or awaiting restoration....the type will be around LONG after I'm gone and I still have 40 odd years to go, God willing and the creek don't rise....

Thanks - yes thats what I mean at least 3 and maybe 4 if there are two flyers coming instead of 1 but as I say I think there is only 1 flyer coming in plus the Ex Yeagan project and the Darwin one = 3 not 4 ? Hope I am wrong and there are 3coming in plus the Darwin bird - wonder where Nobby is up to with the Darwin one - must be getting fairly close now ?
