Hi Saxman,
Pictures look great. Would it be ok for us to reprint these pics for our unit newsletter?
We try to give the membership of the National Capitol Squadron updates as often as
possible. Since I have not been up to visit for a while, these would help greatly!
Thanks for visiting!

I really miss spending my Fridays there cleaning, removing panels and bead blasting parts. Looking good guys, I really hope I can stop by when I have a chance.

Yeah, first 2 months I flew 220 hours. This month seems like I'll be 100 at the end. Studying for the ATP written so I can upgrade, or go to the Saab 340 in the next few months.

The compass is now installed in the cockpit:

The engine compartment is coming along:

My task for the day was to mask the inside of the wing:

I brought a friend of mine along. He is an RC modeler / flyer, so the masking for him was no sweat. You can get an idea how high up he was and how big the TBM's wing is!

Work continues on the engine compartment:

The completed masking job:

Meanwhile, the right wing gets a coat of primer:

...and the cockpit is getting more complete:

I forgot to ask about it when I took this photo, but can someone explain the purpose of this hole and the wire across it? This is in the radio comparment.

The "hole with a wire across it" is the female receptacle, I guess you'd call it, for a Dzus fastener.

DZUS (pronounced Zoos) is a quarter turn quick attach fastener. The wire is actually a spring that the fastener grabs and latches in place. The panel is attached from below in this photo.

Great pictures Saxman! Hopefully we can get some more from others.
It really helps to show the gang that is 3 hours away the progress being made.
Thanks Again!

No problem!...let me know if you want me to send you the originals.
The great thing about this restoration to me is that it is just as much about being around the people working on this plane as it is working on the plane itself. When any of these guys start to talk (and especially Jack), you simply have to stop what you're doing and listen. Great, great, great stories.
