Unique Bomb Bay Doors (swiveling?)

Wed May 30, 2012 3:19 pm

Hey Guys,

This one has me stumped. I seem to recall seeing swiveling bomb bay doors on something like in the image below. I realize the image is not a manned aircraft, none the less has there been any use of of door of this type, even for other things besides bomb bay doors?

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

EDIT: Sorry about the giant image, I don't know how to make it any smaller.

Well, it looks like a FLIR sensor turret or similar, so apparently they're used as sensor bay doors as well as bomb bay doors.

That's correct, the image is from a UAV. What I'm trying to find out is where I've seen that type of door before on a manned aircraft.
