The German news magazine Der Spiegel (in English) has a brief story about the Germany army recovering a Ju 87 from the seabed off of the island of RĂ¼gen, located in the Baltic Sea off Germany's northern coast.

Great news, but the article mentions that the wreck has been a popular spot for divers for many years..leading me to wonder how complete it is.

Considering the other recovered Stukas are little better than saltine crackers, this Baltic example holds promise, particularly if it can serve as a template. Details such as internal fittings, while scarce, aren't impossible to find; I do hope it's in good shape and look forward to learning more about it.

Looks like us Luftwaffe fans have had a string of recoveries to get excited over this year! :)

Shame they plan to cut the wings off as part of the recovery. That's what happens when you get the military involved - they either cut it up or blow it to pieces in case it's dangerous. :roll:
