Great story here about finding an old hot rod '35 Ford, but note the wingless Gooney in the bushes (scroll down to photos):

Any info on this one?

Looks like something shiny on the ground below the aircraft. Maybe its wings?

McCall is in Idaho not Oregon.

There is a big USFS base at Bowen Field and the DC-3/C-47 is located just across the road.
It's tempting to think it's an ex-USFS smoke jumper dumped there, but the color scheme isn't quite right.

Could be one obtained as a 'Christmas tree'.

There was another one there some years ago, identified as msn 13318 ex 42-108947 and USN 17220.
This one looks different.

Johnson Flying Service? They started the smoke jumper business.

The old USFS C-47s had an orange stripe, this look a bit like a postwar USAF bird...and obvioulsy it could be civil.

There used (late 70s-early 80s) to a complete C-47 at the Interacency Fire Center in Boise, gear up on the ground. It was used for smokejumper training.
It's long gone now. Perphas this is it.

I know this is an old thread, but I am interested in finding out information on the derelict C47 at McCall, ID. I was at McCall four years ago and took some crappy cell phone pics of the plane in question. All major parts appear to be on site and it looks like it was in good shape when parked (though vandals were starting to pick away at it). The wheels are sitting on a metal stands to keep the tires off the ground and the metal stands are placed on small concrete pads (poured specifically for the aircraft). Engines were present, mounted, and had plywood covers. Wings were onsite, but just laying on the ground. Other odds and ends were crated and onsite. The aircraft's upper fuselage was white and marked "UNITED STATES ARMY" in black. The tail number is 07220. I didn't see any civil registration on the aircraft.
I'll be back up in McCall in Dec and can take more pictures (if it's not covered in snow) and collect more data if anyone is interest. I'm a novice so someone would have to tell me what to look for.

Assuming it is 0-7220, this is/was owned the 'DC-3 High Adventure Club'. Some more (undated) information can be found on http://www.centercomp.com/dc3/gallery/roll_A-H.htm:

"We are reassembling an R4D5 to static display as the featured attraction of the "DC-3 High Adventure Club". The club will be located in McCall, Idaho serving as a base for outdoor activities in the beautiful McCall area. Our "Doug" was built for the US Navy, transferred to the US Army and was eventually acquired from the US Forest Service. As part of the project we are building a DC3 Wall of Fame and seek any information, photos or memorabilia and tall tales related to the Plane that Changed the World. Join us for adventure and nostalgia in another year or two when we finally get clearance to "take off"."

A pity it doesn't seem to have worked out (but let's hope the vandals stay away).

I was there about 2 weeks ago, still there as described.
Several "No Tresspassing" signs on it.
Will post pictures on my website when I get to it.

I think we've pretty well established the identity of this plane, but here are some pictures I took last week when I was up there.
