Barely had ANY fun at all at Flying Legends 2012, Duxford!

Wed Jul 11, 2012 2:35 pm

Sorry for the delay in posting these but I stayed on in the UK for another week after Duxford and I didn't have computer access.
Duxford was a blast this year. The weather hung in there and despite a few showers the show went on.
Better photographers tha I have posted the three Mk I Spitfires along with the other 5 newer Marks cavorting.

The nice thing about being an amateur photographer is I have no standards to uphold.
Here are a few of the many pictures I took at Duxford.

Spanner,
I'm thinking that those are bonding jumpers across the rubber hose to prevent corosion build up in the cooling system plumbing. Nice photos! F model P-40's are as rare as they come that one looks to be a beauty.
Surprised you've never seen a JUNGMEISTER, brain fade here, who used to do a kick butt routine in one and was killed by a bite from a Black Widow that was in the airplane?

Bevo Howard, but that was not ever documented to be a causal factor in his accident.

Crikey! A bite from a black-widow certainly could not have HELPED his routine, I am thinking...

OK- since you asked- here are a few more...

DUDE! You need to get out a bit more often. That 'part of an F-86' is the ex Ben Hall P-86A FU-178 48178. It's the # 6 Sabrejet built and Ben spent years rebuilding it from a junkpile hulk, he then flew it locally in the Seattle area for a while and sold it to Old Warden. It was supposedly sold a while ago and was supposedly headed back to the states. I'm looking @ a photo on my wall I took 20 years ago of Ben, Paul Entrikin in his Mig-15, and the Boeing Canadian Sabre chase plane in trail at KPAE during one of the Air Fair shows.

Scan it and share it vato! 8)
I am not at all averse to folks hi-jacking my threads as long as cool pictures or stories ensue.

You can't believe the running fist fights I'm having with COMCAST, YAYWHO, and my photo program! Smack in the middle of doing something on line, I get an 'Internet has stopped working' window necessitating a concert organ recital on the keyboard to get out and back on line, I can't send a picture from my YAYWHO account to my COMCAST account, I need to find a geek

Did I see a flyable P-47 Razorback in your pictures?

I didn't know there were anymore flyable Razorbacks

There are at least two. The one in the UK usually seen at Duxford and the one in the U.S. usually seen at Planes of Fame Chino. I have seen the one at Chino fly during the May air shows in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

I would love to get over to England some day to see this one at Duxford and maybe to attend the RIAT and Farnborough shows also.

SNAFU is her name.
She may very well be coming to Chino- but the plans are nebulous.
She was the ex- Lone Star Flight Museum razorback... "Little Demon"

Here she is cavorting with Sally B- If anybody got better pictures of this part of the show feel free to post...

I learned from last year that my camera does not do too well with "in-flight" shots so I enjoyed watching a lot more of the show this year and left the flying photography to the guys with the big glass! :drink3:

Spanner, do they hold a "cacklefest" with the trailer-mounted aero engines? That would be a lot of fun! :D

That would be outstanding if she came to Chino. It would be amazing to see "SNAFU" and the "Spirit of Atlantic City" flying together at the Planes of Fame show some year.
