Hey can you two simply just stop!!!!! Just stop!!! .... I don't ever recall ever being turned off to the welfare/progress/happenings of any warbird as I'm getting with this one. And it's a Corsair of all planes, an airplane that's kind of close to me in certain ways  ... Geeziz H Crips!!!! ... You guys are going to get me banned again if you keep this up. One last attempt by me to try to persuade you two to just get along and stop the childish BS!!!!

Get along, work together, help to solve your Corsairs issues and make your Country and yourselves proud. Forget the $500 if need be and move on. You have a chance (becoming a smaller chance everyday IMO) to have the power of a place like WIX and it's members with strong Warbird influence, to help you in so many ways, don't screw it up with this bickering and pettyness.

Sorry everyone.

mark,

for there would be no problem, the only thing i want, in this tread or other, is that nobody else use the keyboards in a bad way against honorable people that is constantly under pressure the maintain and sustain the hard work to run a museum. i am here, in Honduras, not in other country, working along with them, seeing how difficult can be in this area to obtain help. as it was said before, results were going to come, sooner or later, in the benefit of the project. and here it is, the project is under way. it would take time too, the restoration won´t be in few days, so it would be nice to let them work with patience and not see in the future comments, from anybody, that they are working slowly or in a bad way.
personally, i have given my back, my shoulder, my sweat, and i´ll do it again. i will just come out in the case i see improper comments from people that are not here aware of the problems these people have to overcome everyday.
leave them work, let them announce how the projects goes without any pressure, and help me in not letting someone press these people as if he is the boss.
for me, mark, i stop here. in any case, send me a pm to let you know how things are going with this project.

Trust me I understand the frustration but keep your head up and stay above and beyond the BS and work towards a better result. And NO I won't send you PM results as I would have nothing to send you. I'm not involved. I would like you to send us results and they don't have to be PM's. :drink3:

keep up the good work jack973 .... I want to be one of the first here on WIX to say "Wow!!! look at that cool Corsair".

Good day!!

Interesting F4U comments by Cpt Carlos Gamundi c 2009.

I also think he meant to say the F4U-5P vs the F4U-5NP. FAH never had a true F4U-5P sample, they did have a F4U-5 which I suspect did carry the compass transmitter fixture on the L/S of the vertical stab. This fixture showed up in NZ with the X FAH 603 Buno 123168.

That particular F4U-5 was originally scheduled at the factory as a "P" model & then was changed to F4U-5 model only.

Bcat/SFury:

Good Day!!

I could not agree more!!

In the big scheme of things FAH 609 is a wonderful flying machine! The last time it flew, was April 1979 with Maj. Fernando Soto in the cockpit. When I asked him in Oct 2009, if given the chance would he fly it again? He simply turned around & glanced at the Toncontin tower & said: "They don't even have to ask me." Flying was indeed his passion!

In his memory, as great person and pilot we'll '' take good care of it & if given the chance it will fly one more time again after a careful restoration over Toncontin!

p.s We 'are making a bit of progress in July 2012!!

Good day!!

In the factory books those 2 models were prob scheduled to be F4U-5P models. In real life, with FAH... they never arrived c. 1956 with side cameras of V/stab compass transmitters.

just 3 things:
1. the last time the plane flew was in april 1981, in the 50th anniversary of the FAH with mayor Soto at controls.
2. the mayor PASSED AWAY in july 26, 2006.
3. the restoration is just for exhibition, not to flying conditions for not putting in danger a "national heritage" declared by the National Congress of the Republic.
