I talked with one of the MAAM guys about this today. Basically he said they've been doing electrical work for about the last year and by the way it sounds the wiring is pretty much complete. The outer wing panels are the only other really big step. With the right amount of money he figured it could be flying in 2-3 years.

Although I've never done any aircraft restorations, I have read that they go through periods where alot of work is being done, but it is not readily visible. The towards then end they hit the 90% Complete/90% To-Go point.

Those who have restored aircraft know first hand that even though you are constantly working on different parts, it seems like there is even more to do. Hang the expense can attest to that! The good thing is they keep plugging away at it. :drink3: :drink3:

All the facebook haters say the same thing- they cant figure out why people dont realize everyone isnt on facebook. well maybe we cant figure out why YOU arent on facebook like the rest of the world. Even if it's just to keep track of things like restorations. You expect everyone to cater to your unwillingness to adapt to technology and modern society. Did you ask Sony to keep making black n white tv's when color came out? Catch up with the rest of the world! It's not our fault you're too stubborn to even give things a chance. Plus, for the millionth time, you dont have to be a member of facebook to look at these pages! It's not the rest of the worlds responsibility to stay in the stone age with you knuckleheads, it's your responsiblilty to keep up. The train is moving, get on or get left behind

You really ought to tone down your school master attitude a notch or two, you are after all talking to mostly grown men, many of whom you would not adopt a tone like that face to face. You want to be a slave to "technology" and bleat on the same bandwagon as every one else, like an excited teenage girl, thats your option.
If I don't, thats mine.
"Facebook = modern society", I can't believe that a grown man could say such a thing.

Everyone wants MAAM to complete the P-61 and get her flying again as soon as possible. But as we all know, it takes money and time. How many of you have sent them a cash donation, or dropped by their hangar to volunteer your services to help with the restoration? That's what it takes. I'm just sayin. . .

and money takes a lot of time, unless you are PA. I would also add, that they are taking the time to do this restoration by the book so that there is no doubt that the aircraft is a S A F E aircraft. This rare winged machine is spectacular. who in their wrong mind would throw an airplane together and presume to takeoff it....most of those guys I believe have gone west, east, north, and south in bits and pieces due to budget.

I'm not b i t c h i n' about photos or the lack of updates, I;m just glad this machine didn't remain in the jungle to be hacked up into pots/pans and scrap.

That's what replaced My Space. And Facebook will no doubt be replaced shortly by something newer now that it has had its IPO and the stock has tanked. Facebook is used mostly by people trying to reconnect with people they had a crush on in high school and for political rants.

Sadly it looks like facebook does equal modern society. Its a simple fact that you can't see some of the stuff you will want to see if you aren't on it. I don't like it but curiosity got to me. It took 30 seconds to sign up and all it needed was an email address and a name. I made up an email address for just that purpose so nothing that happens with the account will matter anyway. In just an hour I found more current information about individual airplanes than I'll ever find on wix or in conversation at the airport. I'm not saying it is the answer to peace in the middle east but it is a way to see more stuff about airplanes. All it takes is putting a few words into a search function to find what is interesting.

Thanks for the update, T. Hey BDK, how would you like to do one of these? Guys, if you have ever built anything yourself, RV-8, T-6, etc., you have got to have an appreciation for what an enormous task this is. It is pretty much like homebuilding a P-61 when no one has done one before.

I bought the book and a hat to help out. They are priced high because they are fund raisers. I'm cool with that. They are both good quality too! Highly recommended.

I did one on WIX many years ago. Wasn't sure anyone was really watching though. I also did a blog that Scott set up for me, but it was overrun by spammers in no short order. It takes a lot of work, and frankly, as just one person it was taking too much time away from important family matters (my son doesn't take naps any longer!).

Possibly because a great number of us realize that we are being tracked enough already (rewards cards @ the supermarket = adds on your ISP opening page).
Lots of us see no point in responding to 'WHATAREYOUDOINGNOW?WHATAREYOUDOINGNOW?WHATAREYOUDOINGNOW? and feeling obliged to report everytime we belch or breath or fart to our 'friends' on line. A REAL friend will be sitting in the cell with you saying something like 'that WAS a heck of a lot of fun wasn't it?'
I see Faceplant and twitterpate as crutches for people who couldn't purchase a true friend and so, have to live vicariously through a 'wonder of this modern age' that's so thin that light shines through it. I understand that within just a few weeks FACEPLANT stock could be worth $11 a ton, IF you bring it to the recycling center.

And, just an aside-I really resent an assessment of me and the other long, long time participants in this forum by someone who has a grand total of 15 posts and, judging by your tone, I wouldn't bother to 'friend'. I feel you won't be around here long unless you undergo a major adjustment to your approach to people who I know have decades of experience in all phases of aviation as opposed to---what are your accomplishments in aviation?
