Could it be documented in the Air Force paint spec?

I haven't found any info in regards to prop painting.
The wing print calls out yellow from attach angle to inboard aileron and this one has pics showing yellow from attach angle to wing tip with what looks like a red stripe.
Will keep looking.

I have a copy of the USN painting specs for that era. Dark Blue and the bands are a specific width, let me dig it out and try and scan for a copy.

What does pg 5 say?
Is there anything on requirements for specific info that gets stenciled on the blade?
Blade angles, ect.

Hey Rich,
I dont seem to have a PG 5. The d portion is for airframe stencils anyway. The props would have come direct from Hamilton Standard with those markings already installed. This copy was for the N3N on floats as they required all the props to be either painted or coated for salt enviroment.

If you dont have any information on NAS paint markings, I can copy what I have and just send it to ya by mail if you need it.
I will also dig out the N3N CD that has all the Blueprints and manuals on it, I know there is a copy of this SR in there on USN markings and what they all mean. Pretty neat stuff.

Great shots Rich. As always with these kind of photos I wonder- Who is he? Did he survive the war? If so, did he live a full rich life afterwards? I never tire of these types of photos.

I want to track down service histories on the Pilots and crew listed in the logs for the SNJ-3. At least one who was involved with a birdstrike went on to earn the DFC in action against the Japanese.

From what I've been able to research, it appears that Joe Scogna's "Baby Duck" has ended up with Paul Wood at Warbird Heritage Foundation.........anyone know if there was an interim owner and when this transfer took place.....???

Joe sold it to Paul Wood a few years back.
It took a year plus of work to have the wing rebuilt and various other things done before it was reassembled and flown.
