Looks like the director jumped off a bridge yesterday... Does this end the chances of a sequel?

Thank God... Well on the non sequel at least, he fared as well as Goose. Story today is he had inoperable brain cancer, bridge is probably a better way to go.....

His widow, well, Donna may well be my new best friend..... She's pretty hot....

If the studio or Tom Cruise thinks there is a buck to be made, it will get made.
If they don't, it won't.

I thought it was already in pre-production...directors are a dime a dozen in Hollywood. As are writers and pretty much everyone else. Once the money is behind it, it matters little who is involved...http://www.movienewz.com/top-gun-2/

Please do not post any comments that could be hurtful to the man's family.

Seconded. I was shocked and saddened to read of his death on Monday, and am very disappointed it took so little time to start condemning his planned project here. Not to mention calling his widow hot. Wow.

I haven't seen all of his films but Top Gun is a favourite of mine and I have enjoyed his other films. My thoughts are with Donna, their children and his brother Ridley at this time.

Sorry but if you look at the widow and happen to be straight that's the only conclusion that can be drawn. It's a simple recicitation of the facts. I'm sure it was a factor that he considered that when he got married along with other factors.

Well, my intent here wasn't to incite a riot...

I was just wondering how much traction the sequel might have lost, although I realize that another director could have been selected.

I'm sure you're not intending your post to be insensitive or disrespectful, but I'm sorry but it kind of comes across that way. The poor fellow had emotions that he obviously couldn't handle himself and his actions have left a broken family of which his widow is a primary part of. I would kindly suggest leaving this one alone. Bdk didn't mean for this thread to degress as I'm sure he had good intentions, but instead of condolences toward his family as this thread should be, it has the makings of something it shouldn't be. Just keep in mind how you would feel if you were family, friends etc. and were exposed to this type of tragedy. Suicide is a horrible, horrible experience for family, friends, or anyone for that matter to endour and we need not look too far for examples of ill and confused poor folks who have chosen such a selfish alternative.

I've had more than one aquantance in my lifetime chose this path and I can tell you it's simply horrible and ALL lose with the outcome. Please everyone show respect and restraint with your comments.

As for the movie sequal being made, it is and should be the last thing on most people's minds at this time. Another day for this conversation IMHO

Mark
