There was another thread (on Doc) recently in which I posted why it was illegal. I don't wanna keep repeating myself...go use the search feature. I just hope they get a new hangar...

Seems a little strange that a warbird restoration (a very public project that needs public donations) using volunteers would be taking place in a "secret hangar"...

The web cam was set up in the old hangar. Back during the summer they moved DOC to the hangar it is in now, the one they don't want people to take pictures in.

Yup, that's the hyd. accumulator for the emergency brakes

Maybe illegal is the wrong choice of wording. Boeing and the USAF does not allow photography to take place because it is the Air Force 1 hangar and Airborne Laser hangar etc. This building is huge, capable of holding multiple 747s (as mentioned above). Because the Air Force has such sensetive equipment in the hangar, they do not wish photography to take place. Not even Boeing photographers are still allowed in the new hangar. That was not an issue in the old hangar--although, because it was Boeing property, one needed a camera pass to take pictures. I REPEAT: ILLEGAL WASN'T THE RIGHT CHOICE OF WORDING...probably a better choice was, "it isn't allowed." That said...I am happy he took the pictures and readily await the time when I can get back to work on Doc.

All of this brings to mind: Will the there ever be any more DOC updates and web cams on the DOC website?

If you do a search on this site for "Ziegler," you should find my references to Dick Ziegler, director of the project (and the one responsible for the updates. After the sale of the Boeing Commercial division, he apparently was not rehired--meaning that he is no longer the director of the project. Yes, Mr. Mazzolini owns it, but, as far as I know he does not direct the restoration project. I had heard that they were trying to get Mr. Ziegler back on the project. He is a very intelligent and thourough man and is one of the few people who has earned my respect upon just meeting him--I certainly hope he comes back.

So---to answer your question: No--unless someone can be found (and works for Boeing) who is willing to do what Mr. Ziegler did. As for the webcams...probably not, unless Doc is put in a less security-conscious hangar.

Yup. It's funny, before 9/11, I went up and saw the ABL, now, it's kept under guard away like we've never heard of it.
