I recall some problems with the tail wheel strut breaking or collapsing on some of the first flights.

There was a main landing gear collapse during the flight testing phase on Jack Erickson's (the only one that has flown/been flying), while it was taxiing, and Erickson had the aircraft sent to GossHawk for repairs and possible redesign of the main landing gear and brakes. Some great photos can be found on the Tillamook Air Museum's Facebook album of The collection's Oscar and P-38 in flight together.
