check www.savannahb17.org The folks there at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum are doing a real fine job on this Flying Fort.

Finally got a chance to visit this museum a couple weeks ago on the way home from Florida. I was most impressed. The museum itself is much larger and sophisticated than I expected, and of course the memorial garden and chapel are fantastic.

The B-17 is coming along nicely.

When we were there a magazine was doing a photo shoot for an article with one of the museum volunteers, who I was told was a ball turret gunner (he's 92 now.)

And it was good to see the B-24 wasn't totally left out (although one tour guide told us that almost all of them went to the Pacific and very few served in the ETO.) This nose section is nicely restored, although the cockpit it completely empty. Hopefully it'll eventually be completed. I think this one and the one at Kermit's place were shown languishing in some storage yard at Chino in an issue of Air Classics back in the 70s.

I've got a ton more pics if anyone's interested.

Gr8 photos! Maybe one day this museum could get the B-24 from Barksdale before it crumbles away! I for one would be very interested in seeing more of your photos.
