flighttests with the TigerMoth D-ECTM

Sun Aug 19, 2012 8:52 am

Klaus is happy :D

Image

beautiful airplane ... I think that would be an airplane for me, btw. passengerflight is promised  funny thing, my first single engine flight over there was with P-51 D "Lucky LadyVII", then TF-51 D-FUNN, then AT-6 D-FXXX and now Tiger Moth ? The other way round would be normal. Who cares, it makes fun anyway :drink3:

Teamwork

Sun Aug 19, 2012 12:00 pm

No warbirds flying without a team in the background. Here some pictures from that fantastic team. I have a lot of fun with them, and the call me "Mr.Friday" and out of that reason, they are very happy when they see me. The reason why is easy to explain : every Friday afternoon, after my bank-job I drive to the MeierMotors facility and take some photos for the homepage, pressreleases and of course for that forum. Friday means weekend, no wonder that the team is happy to see me :D

Mustang-man Oleg

Oleg is responsible for those P-51-projects and also a very experienced mechanic for those russian Yakovlev fighters

Image

We really dont know what this guy is doing there. He looked like Moses, or even like those pretty girls in the bar dancing at the pole :diablo:

Image

Felix Ohlhoff, our man for engine tasks. He is also responsible for our Spitfire-projects and had several hospitations at our engine partner Vintage V12´s Techahapi/CA

Image

testflight with the electric car , from the left apprentice Steffen, mechanic Patrick and at the steering wheel Klaus. Klaus is responsible for several projects as TF-51, the biplanes and so on. He also has a flight licence and makes the flightests with the biplanes in the shop.

BBQ with the webmaster in front. Somtimes Friday afternoon means BBQ. The reason may be a good week, a successful testflight or good weather. At this event we dismissed Juergen Meier to his new job in another facility.

Image

one of our "tin-men" .... those sheetmetalworkers are pure artists. Btw. this guy painted the noseart "Crazy Horse" of the AT-6 D-FXXX

Image

Juergen says goodbye .... thank you for your work and especially for your friendship & good luck with your new job

the apprentices are doing their paperwork, Felix is assisting , from the left Jochen-Elmo, Patrick and Steffen

just another duty .... counting and assorting those cotters.... nope Felix is not amused

Great shots of the Tiger Moth Matthais. Nothing like a classic biplane flying off grass.

Fantastic pictures, Matthias!

Do you have any pictures of the .50 cal machine guns (or replica barrels) being installed into the gun ports of the P-51 wing? I am interested in detailed pictures of the ball assembly that sealed the gun ports when the guns were installed. The gun barrels fit through the ball assembly and sealed the gun ports when the guns were installed.

Thanks.

Ron

A little out of context, but Ron, these photos posted by Rich on this page surely will be of some help to you: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=21830&start=540

Although late to the party by a couple of weeks, thank you once again for these latest photos, Matthias!

Hi John,

Thanks for the link to the outstanding pictures! Those were just what I was looking for! Quite the interesting bit of engineering. I saw the "City of Winnipeg" P-51 numerous times before she was repainted. I live in Winnipeg, so I am a bit partial to the 402 Sqn City of Winnipeg paint scheme. Sorry to see that that has been changed, but that's the way it goes.

work on the centersection ist going on. You can see, its a lot of work to restore a warbird. And think about, this wing was in a very good shape. Millions of parts are coming together, small bits and pieces.... and .... the construction is very british: why build it easy when you have the chance to make it complicated
