John:
Kilts - scotch - song? Is this a multiple choice question? HA!
(Thx - missed you too at those places.
Amazing how many turned out at Fargo; sad but a great memorial for a great guy.)

It's only purpose was to be able to visually detect icing better and that is an area where you don't want a lot of disrupted air flow. Those black areas on the A-1 might be the same thing.
I could be wrong. Someone will pipe in soon with the real answer.

They are antenna fairings on the Skyraider.

The black panels on the inner wing panel by the landing gear are fairings for the center wing antenna.

Hey guys, thanks for posting this awesome stuff. Good times.

Jim, best of luck with your mom. I've been down that road with my dad. It's a tough one. If you have other family members it really helps to talk and spread the load. Don't forget to laugh whenever you can.

Thoughts and prayers

Thanks...I am working on getting mom settled in a nursing home...she is comfortable and that is what matters. 67 is way too young to be afflicted with this... here is another video...no music, just engines...I will probably dub in some Floyd on this at some point. More to come.

Here is the latest...this was the 2012 move from Westchester County airport to Morristown New Jersey. This is the "short cut" around all the airspace in the area. It was also a great opportunity to film this unique moment.
