Just FYI ...if anyone is in the DFW are this weekend....the Cavanuagh folks are having their Warbirds over Addison show/ fly days.

"Technically" it's still airworthy, but it'd take a bit to actually get it back flying if there was ever a desire to (which there isn't). I don't know if the engines have been run recently, but I know they do basic maintenance and upkeep on it. The problem is, it's pretty much the last of its kind and after the CAF's example crashed in Wyoming a few years back, Mr. C grounded it, much as their B-25 is grounded since its nose art is priceless.

I wish I could make it this weekend, and I may try to get there on Saturday if things work out, but my schedule's been kinda screwy lately so I don't know if I'll be awake enough to do it. We'll see though!

What's so priceless about the nose art on the B-25? It's a restoration of an original combat veteran aircraft, which in itself is a good enough reason not to fly it.

Chicks Dig Warbirds.......right?

When the aircraft was restored, the painter of the original nose art was still alive and redid the nose art. It was then flown to Oshkosh to be judged that year (it won Grand Champion) and then came home to Addison where it was then grounded because the concern was that flying it (especially if it went through a rain storm) might damage the nose art, and they didn't want to hurt the status of the restoration.
