Oh my!

Fairly well fitting that the Military Channel here in the U.S. just ran a show this last hour about the Amiens raid.

Judging by a few of the low passes from the air show event, the pilots must be feeling right at home!

Keith Skilling, with Warren Denholm (see below) for the first two displays. Dave Phillips, with Keith for the last display - the first time Warren had watched it fly from the outside!

Note total flying time at the end of the last display was around 3 hours. Due to the obviously limited testing that had taken place, no vertical manoeuvring was permitted, so we were forced, forced I say to put up with passes in various combinations of speed, height, bank, and display partner.

From my pics, it was definitely Dave in the Nav's seat for flights one and two (and not Warren as I was standing near him while it was flying!).

I must have mis-understood/mis-remembred what Warren was saying when interviewed on the PA (I blame the jetlag!).
However I thought that the timing of Dave's Tiger Moth display was not compatible with him being on the second flight?

Good to catch you today Errol! Yes, you'd think so, but I rechecked my shots and yesterday's time stamps on the images (unlike today's!) check out with Dave in the right seat for the first two flights.

I'm surprised a newly built aircraft with a total of three hours flight time was allowed at an airshow at all.

Why?
Aircraft was built to original specs using proven materials and methods of construction.
Engines are a known type and overhauled per manuals and approved methods. They were probably run on a test cell prior to shipment. The props are similar being overhauled.
All parts were overhauled and inspected and tested prior to the 1st flight.
The 1st couple of flights would show what was inop or needing attention.
So in essence there is nothing new or unknown.
The flights at the show were pretty much straight and level passes with no aerobatic profiles.

There doesn't seem to be any experimental, never before tried stuff here that needs total testing involved.

In WWII newly built aircraft were being flown off to war and combat with very few hours. Depending on the point of the war and needs I wouldn't doubt if Mosquitos were off to combat with 4 hrs on them.
