I was channel surfing in the ads in the MotoGP practice yesterday and found "Bombers B-52".
Lots of big planes, cold war propaganda, a bit of a story line and the helmets they wore during the landing gear won't come down emergency were very special.

A couple of weeks ago, TCM ran "Thunder Birds," a William Wellman film about the training of American, British, and Chinese aviation cadets at Thunderbird Field in Arizona. The plot was fairly routine - yet ANOTHER love triangle  - but Wellman made sure the film contained plenty of good flying scenes. The combination of Stearmans and Miss Gene Tierney, both shot in Technicolor, made for a pretty good film.

I did spot a couple of continuity errors that only an aviation geek would notice. Twice, during training missions, the two lead actors took off in a Stearman. The training flight sequences alternated between a Stearman and (I think) a Consolidated biplane. Have to wonder how Wellman let that get by.
