One of Dad's old SNJ's I just noticed has the same tie of modex to its BuNo. Very interesting.

Great pics, thanks for sharing. I had been wondering what the "buzz" number of my SNJ-5
was. Although BuNo 91077 was assigned to multiple Navy bases with hundreds of SNJs on
hand, I still don't know if the buzz number was 77 or some other number. I did find evidence
of one numeral 7 on one of the fuselage side panels (under *many* layers of paint).

For the N3N's in the 50's, the plane number has no relation to the Bureau.

SNJ-4 bu 27775 was the 4379th built out of a total of 9331 with an NAA change # 88. it is 88-13391
