Thanks to all for the report on Midland. A fellow T-6er drove to the show. He said they had a great time and the place was just filled with families and kids. Very complimentary of the kid-friendly atmosphere and ticket pricing that allows a family of four to have a great day out for 50 bucks. He said there were two attractions that got the whole crowd buzzing. The jet school bus, and FiFi. He could hear people cheering "FiFi", kids and adults.
The Midland La Quinta was another story. It was a long story, but sounds like the oil boom is having quite an impact, both good and bad, on the Midland area.

Does anybody know what happened to fifi's number two engine on Sunday? I understand they landed with it shutdown at the end of the airshow. Their facebook page has been pretty quite.

I apologize for the ridiculous motel costs: the oil business is renting up all the rooms and the hotel/motel people are simply raising their prices as much as they can. I know we (the CAF HQ staff) really tried to find some solution but, short of some members opening up their homes, there was nothing we could do. The visitors to the International Oil Show that followed the Airsho had the same complaints.

Not your fault and not a slam against the event.
It was really interesting to see the area in boom
as it has been in bust for the past 30 years.
Photo access was great, I had a good time and hope to
make the event again some day.
