Brewster Buffalo's ...

Thu Nov 01, 2012 12:31 pm

Outstanding LIFE photo series ... Some you've seen, some you haven't. Mainly Buffalo's but a few others as well.
The Buffalo's packaged in Crates are likely on the same line as the possible buried Spitfires of recent conversation?
If interested you can go back to the "P-40's ..." thread to see similar photos of AVG P-40's being unloaded from crates as well.

Much more of the Singapore series here ... fascinating stuff

It's nice to see traditions live on-everyone screwing the aircraft together are all standing on tip toes and reaching at arms length or standing on boxes and working at arms length, kinda like erection and maintenance of today right down to generous amounts of Norwegian Steam.
I'll bet the packing crates quickly became line shacks.

I like the stuccoed sandbag revetments. I might have to build a planter like that :D

The bulbous Boulton-Paul top turrets on the Hudsons looked almost as funny as the big ol' bucket hats those blokes in the pictures were wearing!

Another neato set of pictures! Thanks, Mark! :supz:
