I was just wondering, are there any living examples (flying or static), of this radical japanese fighter?

That's exactly the way I saw her a couple of years ago too. I was told at the time that the wing spar was so badly corroded that they didn't think they could reassemble the aircraft on its gear without it buckling. If this is the case, it'll need a major restoration before it can properly be displayed. I imagine it is way back in the line for restoration, but it would be really cool to see it on display... it has to be one of the most outlandishly wild looking aircraft designs. Even today it feels futuristic.

i never knew that a shinden kai jet version was even proposed, yet at least drawn & proposed by japanese designers!! pretty cool!! i learned something new today!!

If it's going to take so long to bring her in for and restore. Why not not send it back to Japan so it can be restored. I would rather see photos of it on the internet restored in a Japanese museum, then just getting worse where it is now. Plus if it's back there I can see it every summer.
