American heroes right there. I love the great airplane photo threads, but the human side, in some respects, is even better. Celebrities have their place, but these guys are the real Rock Stars.

Note that in several cases, plotting boards are evident. These held the maps, a big clear plastic compass rose, and a whiz wheel and were removed from the airplane by the pilot after flight for his preparation for the next mission. The board generally slid into a horizontal slot in the instrument panel. The rails can be seen on the side of the board.
