Considering how much time I spend on this site and how much I learn... I should have done this months ago.
Done Scott :)

I can only echo whats already been said. This site is the leading authority of Warbird news and information. At least, I think it is. And so does my father who is also a big time lurker. We both find great significance with this site and as much as our own museum is hurting for cash, this is an indelible extension of what is known as the "Warbird Community"*. We stand behind you Scott. My father will be sending some money your way, in addition to my own donation. Thanks again.

Quick question-
Is there a way for current subscribers to bump up their monthly contribution? I poked around my PayPal account and did not find an obivious answer. Is that something you can do from your end? I'd like to double my current contribution.
Thanks again Scott for all that you do!

Just a big thanks for what you do here. I used to mod a Jeep forum years ago, that was enough of a hassle. I cant even begin to think what you have to do to keep this up and running.

Thanks again

Jim

Scott-

Doing a site like this is a pain and a passion... I congratulate you for doing this.... I put in some dough for you, but I think you should make it a paid site. In general folks value things they pay for more than that they get for free..... its a similar crazy idea like I think everyone should use their real name as the registered name.... my nickel.

My hope is that if we could turn time forward 200 or 2000 years, this site will still be operational. Think of the invaluable historical information it will contain for centuries of future generations.... In a way it has already become a piece of history, capturing the stories, technical exchanges, opinions and characters of the warbird community. It is our responsibility to keep the history alive... This site is legend !

I looked around and the only way I can see is to cancel your current subscription and the set up a new one. If the $2, $5, $10 options aren't good then PM me and I'll set up other options. Thanks, I appreciate the support.

You've pretty much nailed it. I want this place to be the definitive place for historical military aviation, for generations. I want to include an overwhelming amount of data, hopefully in a digestible format. Things will continue to grow here for the rest of my life and beyond.

In 2001 I had a nice little dogfight with cancer. Lucky it went down in flames leaving me with a few holes. I made arrangements then that would allow for the site to continue beyond me. Those provisions are still in place, but I want this place to grow 10 fold before that happens.

The support and patronage of WIX members and the other visitors to the site will allow me to justify spending the time on developing the site and perhaps get some professional help (some people say I've needed professional help for awhile now). My dream would be to do it full time and maybe as the subscriber base grows that might be possible in the future.

For now I will continue to plug away at the site, both in updating the existing stuff and creating new sections. For a peek at what is developing check out http://powerplants.warbirdsresourcegroup.org/

Also, check out the Luftwaffe drop ordnance section at http://www.warbirdsresourcegroup.org/LRG/bombs.html, a member recently donated copies of the equivalent manual for British and Japanese ordnance and I will be developing those sections in the future.

I have lots of plans for the site and with the continued support it will grow in the years to come.

I thought about that years ago but two things make that a less than desirable option. First, I believe information should be free, especially historical information.

Second, we receive between 3-7,000 unique visitors a day, a number that has been consistent for years now. Yet up until this surge there was about two dozen subscribers. You can see where the disparity is there.

Hopefully the upwelling of support will continue and we can all help grow this site together

Thank you everyone for your support, I really do appreciate it.

We've had this discussion before...ad infinitum. I still don't understand what it would accomplish.

Mudge the dense?

Anyone want to know my "real" name...all you gotta' do is ask. Until the rules change here, it's Mudge!!

Considering all the members of the WIX that have a Facebook phobia, I don't think making everyone use their real name would be a benifit.
Believe it or not, one of the first versions of this board allowed you to use a different username each time you posted...
