The Hellcat looks great! I was going to ask if you had decided to use the RCV but it looks like you just answered my question. I've got an old Sterling P-63 on the shelf that I always thought would be a good candidate for an RCV but I never did enough research on their reliability.

I ran my RCV .90 in a test airframe and while it proved to be relatively user friendly it simply would not have been enough power to fly the Hellcat in a satisfactory manner. The RCV 1.20 would probably be sufficient but they are simply more money than I'm interested in spending for what you get in return. I acquired the .90 in a trade which was the only reason I had it in the first place! The .90 was easy to start and ran reliably while I had it but I only put about two hours of time on the engine before getting rid of it.

Thanks! I totally agree on the price thing. The Hellcat's an excellent model, but any way you look at it spending well over $400 on a glow engine for a 60 sized plane is hard to swallow! I think my -63 would be in about the same boat as your Hellcat, the 90 would probably fly it but not comfortably.

I'm coming into this a little late, but thought I'd point out that the actual pink-tailed Hellcat drone from the Bikini tests (#14, BuNo. 41834) is the very same Hellcat now restored and on display in the more traditional tri-color scheme at NASM Udvar-Hazy.
