The dismembered nose section of 422 was at the Oaks sitting on a pallet. That was a few years ago. It may still be there. I can't recall the date but the Oscar was sitting next to the Vampire still.

Thanks Ash.. that adds a little more to my hope that something forward of bulkhead 2 exists?

A previous owner advised me that the forward fuselage section remains still existed at a property in the Western Sydney area, but I wasn't able to push the issue too far. I guess that could of included "The Oaks". As mentioned, am trying to do what I can for now without pushing too hard.

If I can at least recover the metal nosewheel well assembly I will be very happy, anything more than that would be a much appreciated bonus.

Single seat Vampire parts seem very difficult to come by.

Re: NZ5707. Yes its on display at the Ashburton Aircraft Museum but Phillip Burns no longer owns it (as i have been told during a visit there). Was going to be rebuilt to flying condition until the death of the engineer in the crash of a T11 Vampire (ironically) at Biggen Hill in 2001.

Judy Pay still has a few more ex Rhodesian airframes doesn't she? Just had one restored to taxi only.

Wendy Pay imported several airframes from Rhodesia during the late 1980s, including R1378 (ex-SAAF 251), R1382 (ex-SAAF 252), R1829 (ex-SAAF 216), R1835 (ex-SAAF 245), R8128 (ex-SAAF 211). Any more?

C'Mon Dave, I agree no listing's perfect, but there's no need to invent 'Wendy' for Judy Pay, except carelessness - given the correct name's in the post above! I'm happy to help, as I know are others, but not if it's going to me a mess.

Anyway, in answer to the question, I hope this helps - extracted from Flightpath V 22 N 1, by Editor Rob Fox:

The Vampires were obtained by a syndicate in the late 1980s including Judy Pay, Graham Hosking, Ray Vuillermin and Alan Pay.

The article was on the restoration to display of R1835, and it was and is in Judy Pay's collection at Tyabb.

There is a fuselage at a paintball range in Western Sydney, I used to drive past it all the time when I was heading out to RAAF Richmond from the Sutherland shire.
