Theme for Thunder 2007

I think in the next year or so we'll see some really nice progess with the P-61 at MAAM, Now that they have the new spars in hand. But it maybe a while before she is seen away from the home field.

We need a WIX insider down there to pump us with pictures and feed our need for info.

I'd love to see the 2 B-29 together. What a sight that would be.

I think an earlier post said that the P-61 is hoped to be on her feet at the 2006 WWII Weekend!

A Pacific PTO theme sounds like a great idea...especially if one could pull off having both B-29s there together. After all, Thunder 2005 pulled together 8 airworthy B-17s...why not get ALL of the airworthy B-29s for 2007?

I think the pacific idea is great. Don't forget the P-38, SBD, and TBF.

And two B-29s would be amazing!

Looks like Thunder 2006 is starting to shape up nicely. Just thinking, provided "Doc" is airworthy by August 2007, perhaps you could entertain the idea of a PTO theme in 2007. If both "Fifi" and "Doc" were there (perhaps the first meeting of the two at one location) you would have one heck of a start for a Pacific theme. And afterall, it was 2 B-29s that brought the war to an end. Just a thought!

Mike and I have been keeping our eye on "Doc" for some time now. We have already discussed the fact that we need to have both B-29's together at Willow Run.
So as time moves forward, we will work on making that a reality!
As for the Pacific theme, we will be looking to revisit that also in the near future.

Hi Kevin and Mike You had 1 P-38 Porky 11 I think in 2003. I have attended a lot of airshows and have yet to see more than 2 P-38's. What might be the possiblity of getting 4 flying P-38's together at the same time that might be a record number in one spot in the last 30 years.
Glacier Girl expensive yes but a huge draw and in Kentucky

Porky 11 which you have had in the past and which can be flown by someone else other than Steve Hinton who is fantastic in his own right
P-38 owned by Ron Fagen in Minnesota which might be ready to fly by say 2007.

Warbirdguy is right. The last mention was that they were going to have the P-61 up on it's own gear for the 2006 WWII weekend. They are planning to build another hanger adjacent to their existing one now to keep it in. We start having meetings in Feb. and March about the setup for reenactors, so I'll see what I can find out when the time comes.
