More for kids but adults may like this movie

Other than ripping off 'TOP GUN' it looks like a good way to shut off your brain and just sit back and munch popcorn for 90 or so minutes. Probably a matinee to avoid the 7 year olds.

To be released August 2013, and a sequel is already in the works!

The Cars movies are well liked by adults and kids, I see no reason to expect otherwise from this.
As a fan of the Cars movies, I'm really looking forward this!

Wasn't that supposed to be released on the Cars 2 DVD?

In any event, I've never heard anything about it other than what's been posted here.

And after the poor reviews of cars 2, are they going to make any more? That might impact any future planes features.

A quick search on the internet does indicate this is for real...release date August 9, 2013.

My .02 shekels: If this movie is able to "plant a seed" in young kids' minds that airplanes and flight are cool, that is a good thing. The future of the Warbird movement depends on being able to pass the knowledge, skills and history to future generations.

Now, if they'd just have one of the characters based on a Grumman Avenger, I'd go see it in a heartbeat

I saw a short on the Disney channel last night that featured a bunch of animated airplane characters (and Mater) which I can only assume are most likely from the upcoming movie. A Corsair and Mustang were the only warbirds I saw but the entire thing was well done and I look forward very much to the movie.

I don't think Disney cares about the reviews, only the box office receipts. My 6 year old loved it as did my wife and I.

True enough. They opened Cars Land at Disneyland after Cars 2 came out (and it often has wait times of over 2 hours to get in) so that should be an indication of how popular it is.
I collect 'Sarge' items from the movie as I own a WW2 Jeep. This shows a part of that collection (the photo in the back is signed by the voice actor for that character):

Wait, they moved up the release to this year? Awesome! :)

Last I checked, they had it slated for a Summer 2014 release and I had been in withdrawals sometime last fall when the trailer made its second round on the net (the trailer came out in late 2011).

The plot is that the crop duster is competing in a round-the-world air race. So, basically Cars 2 in the air. Should be interesting though. If they follow their previous model, we will get to hear the voices of a lot of people we might know well even if the rest of the world may not, just as they did with the Cars movies using the voice talents of many race car drivers (and one crab boat captain... :) ).

I will say that their rendition of the Super Bug has grown on me since I first saw the trailer.

Edit: Found a couple of interesting posters posted on the Pixar wiki for the release -

The first poster shows "Skipper" with "Dusty". Skipper is being voiced by Stacey Keach. The second shows "Ripslinger" that looks to be an NXT.

Agreed SaxMan...if this movie will ignite an interest in young kids to want to learn more about airplanes, it can only be a good thing! When I was 6 or 7, a missionary came to our church. I remember him telling stories about being a pilot in WW II. Got shot down and spent some time as a POW. My Dad was talking to him after church and he asked if my Dad and I would like to go for a ride with him in his plane. Little did I realize then that he would ignite the fire in me later in life that has stuck with me and will always be with me. Just wish I could remember his name.
