Didn't forget about you Mossie requesters ... Spent some time cleaning these guys up with photoshop. Most have been seen before I'm sure, but a few may be new to ya. Sorry but little info to post, hopefully the experts can chime in again. Source mostly SDASM archive, IWM archives.

Mark,
EXCELLENT posting again! (Cue the ominous cello music) the other night I was plowing through my recently re-discovered pile of Ballantines Illustrated History books from the early 70's (cover price $1)for something to read in bed and pulled up Edward Bishops book on the Mosquito.

Thanks Mark, as always.
Such a magnificent blending of art and technology. de Havilland was a genius!
I was wondering, how many Spruce, Birch and Balsa trees are required for one aircraft?

There is a fabulous photo that exists of the ultra low level beat-up that the crew performed in RG314 on the return from that last ever Mossie sortie.

Is that a pile of DH VAMPIRE hulks behind RG 314 turning the corner in the second to last photo?

I was thinking more Mosquitoes. Don't they have a door right where the dark spot is under the windscreens?

Hi Mark:

Great collection! Am interested in where the photos of Spartan Mosquitos CF-HMS and CF-HMQ were taken. Do you have any more background on these?

Cheers:

Robert

Hello Robert, unfortunately I do not. Could it be at the Spartan Air Services home base Ottawa Ontario 1955?

Hi Mark:

I believe the couple of HMS were taken at Malton after the aircraft had been checked over by DHC - it never went back to Spartan but happily is now being restored to museum standards at Nanton, Alberta, in its Spartan configuration by the Calgary Mosquito Society. I have a suspicion the one of HMQ was taken in the UK while the aircraft was in transit to or from Kenya.

Do you have access to the shot of HMQ?

Cheers:

Robert

Outstanding!!! Robert, I love to hear these types of things.

Not the original image. Just what you see, most all the photos are either of poor description or nothing at all unfortunately. Most are copies of copies of copies with the original source not listed. These particular photos were in very poor shape and I tried my best to clear them up in photoshop. I'll be happy to see what I can find out with a little research.

Greetings again Robert, after a bit of Googling I came up with this fellows Flickr account with what looks to be several images of the Mossies in question. Hope this helps.
