What was the A-1 jacket mentioned?
I can't say I like it any better than the classic A-2...and for almost $900, I don't think I'll be ordering one soon.
The A-1 was issued by the Army in the 20s and was replaced by the A-2. It was a leather jacket but I think there was a wool version as well. I've never seen a period photo of one with a wool body and leather sleeves though. I've seen a lot of Thunderbird Field photos and when the instructors are wearing leather jackets they are usually A-2s. If they had photographic proof of that jacket, I'd love to see it. The patch looks a lot like the originals I've handled so they got that more or less right.
