"Atomic Field" Nagasaki Japan

Sun Feb 03, 2013 7:44 pm

I have just learned that my Dad's Army Combat Engineer unit built an airstrip called Atomic Field within 1000 yards of ground zero at Nagasaki, Japan between 30 Sep and 11 Oct 1945. Elements of VMO-2. a Marine observation squadron apparently used it. So far I have only found one reference to it online and no photos. Has anyone ever heard of it?
