Definitly the most beautiful and graceful airliner ever!

I grew up in a house that is the flightpath of Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport. I can remember as a kid seeing those big beautifull Connie's take off & land. What a great looking airplane!

I sure would love to see one fly again.

Didn't that bird reside at the Pima Air Museum at one time?

Awesome aircraft!

But is there really a bad angle of a connie? It has to be one of the most beautiful aircraft ever. I will miss the one in the USA. I loved seeing that one.

What one? There were two! And they hope to have it up next year...at least that's what I was told by the museum guide.

Tim is probably referring to the MATS Connie. It was sold and is now in S Korea.

Yes, that is the one.
Which other Connie is in the air in the US?

The other airworthy Connie is the Airliner Museum's in Kansas City. I had a look at it in late October...one of the engines blew so they're repairing it. My camera was screwed up really bad inside that hangar, so I don't have many pictures. They should have it airworthy next year after the engine finishes being rebuilt.
Personally, I find the L-049/749s to be much better looking than any later model could hope to be.

Is that the "Save a Connie" group? I totally forgot about that one.

You can still walk through POF's Connie which is at Valle Airport near the Grand Canyon. Although not currently in annual, it is in good restored shape and could be easily made flyable if the situation ($$$$) warranted. It was moved to Valle for long-term preservation due to the dry climate.
