The poor man is a promoter. He and his backers have actively sought the publicity and attention. It would have been easy to do this much more quietly. The story ordinarily wouldn't have been of much interest to the mainstream media. Even Geraldo knew you can't have it both ways.

Never let facts get in the way of a good story.

I believe Thibaw(aka Derek Tonkin) has fulfilled Moggy C's request for an abbreviated run down of this thread so far. His article was exactly like reading this thread, without the light hearted banter, mildly personal attacks or expressions of frustrated impatience.

Good show Derek.

National Myth No.11,.......... But I hope he finds them.

I never thought for a moment the Spits would be found. :( Others here on the WIX have been expressing their skepticism for as long as this story surfaced months ago simply because over the years there have been all kinds of stories about intact planes buried here and there and nothing ever turns up.

Contrarary to what the press report (again) the project is still very much on! The Wargames backed archaologists may well have been called home but for David and his Burmese partners the hunt is still very active and will continue until the monsoons start.

Same 'news' as several weeks back, the wargamers left but Cundall and others are still searching and are to go to another northern area as well. It is the 'end' when Mark 12 says so  .....not the press who want to regurgitate the same story over again until they have something new to report.
