Looking at the corrosion issues I don't realistically see anyone taking engines down there with a view to flying her out!
The most realistic would be dismantle and ship to your museum.

It was sniped for $20,200 with 9 seconds left.

Strictly for it's Coast Guard historical lineage, a CG group was interested but we couldn't confirm it's lineage. There was a discrep in some numbers. I might have something to post on it later.

Hate to ask, but is it worth more than $20,200 in scrap value?

I like PBY's, but if that thing isn't a contender for the title "ultimate money pit" then I don't know what is.

Absolutely....thankfully they are robust and pretty simple to work on......but they are still a large aircraft, which adds up to lots of work and money.

Thankfully some has accepted the challenge to preserve this example (we hope)... Any way to find out who bought it and what their intentions are?

Ask the seller if he can tell you. You can click on the auction link and send him a PM. I knew of at least two groups who were aware of it. Whether the other group was interested enough....I don't know. Maybe it will resurface in a few years??
