Never can have enough "twin booms", would have been interesting to see a few P-38's race together back in the day. Source SDASM archives

Ms. Vaughn is going to make a mess of that lugnut if she doesn't square up that wrench!

I love the shots of P-38s just parked in the weeds, abandoned. I guess back in the day, digging expensive tunnels in glaciers wasn't required if you wanted a Lightning.

Isn't that Lefty's White Lightning prior to his ownership back in the hanger?

She is still around and makes appearances at car shows, if you check out Google there are some recent pictures of her online...

The CLIPPER is NC88902 Clipper Black Warrior
Linda turns up at every Barrett-Jackson and the miles sure show, she was 'hanging out' with George Barris when the BATMOBILE was auctioned off.
Car # 91 was mostly a Chevrolet until the last two GRAND NATIONAL races of the year in 1964, it competed once as a PLYMOUTH @ Agusta on Nov. 1, 64 driven by, no jive, 'Bubba' Into   and finished 22nd in that race. geek

What lugnut? I don't see any cars around.

Last time I saw her was an Autolite drag in Sonoma. She still looked pretty good but that was 10 years ago...
N25Y was Lefty's Lightning, that looks like it in the background as Sky Ranger, and the profile view of it there is the first I have seen in that particular livery. Thanks!

The bird with the number 34 on the cowl looks to have had the blades shortened by a fair bit.I thought it was the tip stripes but looking at it for a bit they are short.I wonder if that was a Smokie Yunick trick or just trying to save blades.I bet blades were cheap back then and plentiful too.
