Help needed to move our PV-2 Harpoon

Our PV-2 Harpoon N7458C is in Buffalo, WY. and we need to move to Topeka, KS. We need to borrow a 40 ft flatbed flatbed or 5th wheel flatbed to move it. Please contact me if you know anyone that can help us. The wings,engines and tail have been removed so I don't think it should weigh more than about 7,000 lbs it is 20ft wide so we will need permits. We look forward to getting another Poon back in the air !

Maybe you could put it on 'Shipping Wars' and get on TV by having one of the clowns on the show move it. It was scary to watch, but they did move a DC-7. :rofl:

Spooky: 20 foot wide is going to kill you in moving expenses. At that width, you will have to be front and rear escorted and may require State Trooper escort too. Travel times and routes are going to be dictated by permits. You will only be able to move during the hours of 9 am thu 4 pm generally. Figure somewhere around 300 miles a day max.

If you guys don't want to pull the center section, It would be worth looking at building a cradle and putting it on a railroad. We used to move F/A-22 center sections from Fort Worth to Marietta by truck and it was a logistical nightmare.

The route to be taken will be Wyoming I-25 south to I-80 east to Nebraska to U.S. 75 south, to Kansas ...and 75 south to 24 east to Kansas 4 south.
Yes, escorts will be needed. In Wyoming and Nebraska three will be needed. Last time I checked, escorts do not have to be certified thru these states. must have two-way commo...no cell phones. I can get Midland Radios to donate the use of C.B. radios. Permits are under $100 for both states. Kansas will require three escorts, can be mom, pop, aunt, uncle, etc., but have to jump through some hoops for state requirements.
This move should only take two days, weather permitting. Around 900 miles approx. maybe a little less.
I am trying to get the company I drive for to donate the use of their tractor for the move, but all they have is van trailers. What is needed is a lowboy equipment trailer...
We may also need some volunteers for escort work as well!
Any contribution for this move in the way of advise or materials would be greatly appreciated, and you can call me or email me as well.

That show is becoming more and more not-to-be-missed.

Don't plan on putting that one on the NY throughway. It won't fit through the toll booths. Seriously, if it's going from Buffalo, then you will have to take secondary roads. What a nightmare to move something 20 ft wide through the Northeast.

I'd recommend the monograph the MoF put together covering their odyssey in getting the Super CONNIE from Upstate Nuevo Jork to Seattle, dirt detours, up and over underpasses, it would make a heck of a movie.
