Mon Dec 19, 2005 11:23 am

On a recently found part (1m.) on which steering cables are visible there is the number 51847 and text on a bolt is W SPEC A
Is this British or American made ?

Thanks in advance,

:) Paul

Hi Paul

W Spec A is I believe, a Whitworth fine thread and I would say this was common in British productions.

I hope that is of some help, perhaps post a picture, someone may recognise the part??

cheers

Hi Paul

are you sure its 51847 and not 51841??

if its the later it could be a date, being 18 May 1941???

just a thought

Hi Digger,

You are right it should read 51841 ! Other numbers found this afternoon are 52458 4, 51659 (on a small rubber block), (R27), (110) and AIR (stylized letters) Associates on a few bolts !
What is it, what is it ? (Bristol maybe?)

Regards,

Paul
