Hello guys

I'm hoping the experts on here can help me again - after more info re: B-17s, this time the heating system for the Norden bombsight - I have a few pics such as this one:

however they only give a tantalising glimpse - does anyone have links / photos in more detail? Especially showing where the hot air hose disappears to / connects to in the right hand side of the nose, as seen in the pic. Also any general photos of it would help me a great deal

thanks in advance!

Rich

I'm no expert on Norden bombsights, but I believe the canvas cover over the bombsight was to keep it from being photographed and the vent/heater hose was to keep the flat panel glass from fogging up.

Orange arrow - .50 cal. ammo feed
Yellow arrow - vent/heat for flat panel glass

B-17 Heater System info,

The red rectangles with white arrows show heated air being brought in from the wings for defrosting windscreen/nose glass.

thanks - that's very helpful.
My main concern was what the heating pipe 'housing' would have looked like on the right inside of the nose - in the pic I posted the heating tube disappears into a little box near the floor....but I think that diagram answers the question!
