The Military Channel (was Discovery Wings) is having an all day running of Bob Hope Holiday Specials from all different eras. Might be worth a look.... Starts at 12:00 Sunday. Check your local listings.

as to his u.s. ancestry, he's from cleveland ohio at his earliest point. he may have roots in england, but he was an ohio boy 1st if he came to the u.s. from britain way back when. go buckeyes!!! go bob!! i think his name was leslie towne hope originally. best, tom

Hope did a TV commercial where he talked about growing up in Cleveland. The producer mentioned to me how sharp he was, even at his age.

As Dave said, Born & bred in south London, moved to the U.S. aged 10 IIRC.
How about that other great American Walt ...., also not born your side of the pond
