No Pe-8s AFAIK. Some Pe-2s though.

I saw the remains of one at the Soviet Air Force museum in 1990 or 1991. They showed me some photos of the crashed plane prior to the "recovery" and transport to the museum. There was not much left by the time it got there. I think I have some photos in my files, I'll have a look and try to post them.

Hi all

Just so we know what we are talking about and yes there are enough remains in the former USSR to slap one together if they ever tried - a series of excellent articles on it and developments in the French Mag done by Xavier Meal last year - well worth translating

here is a link to an article on line

I swear that I saw a restored one of these in a photograph recently. I was at a local aviation group lecture about a recent trip to Russia, and there was a photo of a large four engined tail dragger which looked suspiciously like a Pe-8. I just don't remember whether it was a Pe-8 though.

Cheers,
Richard

I found the pics of the Pe-8 wreck that was hauled to the back lot of Monino back in 1990 or 91. Now if I can just figure out how to post a few, I'll do it. Photobucket?

Thanks for the answers. ASTixjr - if you e-mail me the pics I can post them on webshots (I think) Can't think of any other Russian 4-engined taildraggers - some Tupolev stuff, maybe, but other than that...

Here are Albert shots. According to my Rusian friend this wreck was recovered in the mid 1980s and was in much better condition when found, but the recovery was poorly done, he says it is the only known survivor.
