BF 109(s) and other Luftwaffe aircraft in Atlanta Georgia

Wed Apr 10, 2013 12:28 pm

I am seeking any information (and ideally photos) of various Luftwaffe aircraft that may have been located in Atlanta Georgia in the early to mid-90's.

I have read that several aircraft were recovered from Russia, and purchased by a firm named Kolair of Atlanta Georgia. The owner may have been a gentleman named Ben Kolotin.

I believe there may have been several Bf109's (or possibly parts of various 109's) , and at an Arado AR199 (a floatplane).

One of the BF109's is a G6 (410077) which has bounced around the world since the '90's and is now being restored in the US to flying.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Brian

Thank you, I have seen that article. That is regarding the sale of the G6.
Hoping to find photo's preferably from the time they were in Kolairs (or later on Ed Zalesky of Canada) possession.

I believe Air Classics or Warbirds International ran an article on the Zalesky collection some years ago which included pictures of the 109 remains. (And possibly others) I probably still have the magazine but whether I could actually lay hands on it is another question entirely! Anybody remember the article and know which mag and about what year the article ran?

That magazine would be of great use if you are able to point me to the issue in question. Should be able to pick one up on the 'bay.

Cheers

I have a number of photos of these aircraft, but I think mostly in Russia- what are you wanting them for?

I have a couple pieces of what are possibly one of these planes, so am hoping to see if I can confirm this.
