The NMUSAF Mustang is indeed original to 1957 (on the inside), but not to original WWII type look or configuration (I guess that's why I didn't mention it). For mid-50's era ANG/USAF Mustangs, it is a great reference, because as you look around the interior you find things that conform to so many of the number of technical orders that were issued for Mustangs in service in the years following WWII, up until the point of the Mustangs being retired (post-WWII stencils, placards, instruments, hardware re-arrangements, radio upgrades, etc.). Although it now has them fitted again, for a while when it was on display it didn't have the tail wheel doors, as those had been removed back when it was in ANG service following the 1953 technical order about locking the tail wheel in the down position on all USAF F-51's in operation at the time.
