Found wheels: Need Help Indentifying

Mon May 06, 2013 4:16 am

Hi guys.

My father found these wheels welded to a set of agricultural disks. After removing them from the frame he said the bearing were still well greased and in pristine condition. Says a lot for the quality. I have my suspicions of what they may be but I will the more educated have a guess.

Drum or disk brakes? If it has no provisions for brakes it is a nosewheel.

Sorry guys, my posts are having to be moderated before they are posted. I have just had confirmation from the RNZAF Museum that they are wheels from a FG-1D Corsair.

They is no intention to sell, however if a price was to be put on these...?

Thank you to those who have shown an interest and have tried to help out in some way.

What a neat find. This is what I did with an old T-6 Texan wheel.

Corsairs didn't have drum brakes that I was aware of. There should be multiple ridges inside for the discs to register on.
