Warbirds Flocking to Colorado Springs later this month...

The National Museum of WWII Aviation will be proudly hosting The Texas Flying Legends from May 26th - May 30
They will be in town to perform the graduation flyover at the Air Force Academy. The list of their airplanes that will be flying and on display at the museum :
2 P-51's, B-25, Corsair, P-40, Wildcat, TBM, and a Zero!
As well as the planes that are stationed at the museum.
More news to follow...

There will be a Memorial Day parade in downtown Colorado Springs. The CAF will be bringing several of their planes into town to perform flyovers of the parade. They will be flying a B-25, 5 P-51's and a P-40. They will be stationed at Cutter aviation at Colorado Springs airport for the event. There is also going to be a flight of T-33's performing flyovers for the same event!

While I personally think that these graduates will be having a real treat by having WWII planes flyover for graduation, it is a joke that the USAF cannot (or will not) spare a single jet to flyover the USAF Academy graduation. All this political doo doo is really a shame.

What, no Colorado-based Spitfire?

Seriously, hopefully the warbirds might spark an interest in them by the cadets.
In my experience, most AFA cadets aren't into old airplanes (until they fly B-52s and KC-135s ) and many are not students of aviation history and lore.
However, I did know a AFA grad who was a B-1 pilot. We hopped a ride in Texas Raiders and he got some left seat time. He was trying to get the time counted in his official USAF records....so some do know a B-17 from a PBY.
