So...what happens to every model manufacturer on the planet when the Washington Redtails decides to trademark their spiffy new P-51 Mustang logo?

I'm sensing sarcasm. You may think I'm paranoid, but I've been served a DMCA takedown for a t-shirt of a Zero fighter by a company named "Zero" that sells skateboards, and had to secure permission from a general in the RAF to get Zazzle to reinstate all of my t-shirt designs featuring RAF aircraft because they contained a "trademarked insignia of the RAF". (They were referring to the roundel on the plane)

Ludicrous or not, if a large company with lots of lawyers wants to be a jerk about merchandising anything remotely related to their intellectual property, they can make your life a misery.

i'd bet all the tea in china that the tuskeegee airmen's association / redtails probably already have copyrights & licensing rights already in place, & for many years too!! look at elvis, Marilyn Monroe, the little rascals, nasa, LeBron james, jimmy Doolittle's family, Lindbergh's family, patton's family on & on. the icons are long gone, but they are still making millions from heaven to their expanded families, & don't be fooled, the direct extended celebrity families of countless icons long gone have put the license rights in place. it's called a cash cow. if I was directly related to patton or lucky lindy you can bet your ass i'd do the same thing!! admit it so would you!!!

They will keep that politically correct have a Red Tail Hawk or something... they aren't going to have a racist mascot like Cleveland Indians have.

Youse troops are getting all incensed about nuthin'. It ain't gonna' happen. They may change the name but it won't be in the lifetimes of any of us.

These people with waaayyy too much time and $$$ on their hands have tried this a few times before. They'll "beat the drum" (get it? "beat the drum"!!! I try...I try.   ) until their arms get tired and then go on to something else they decide "needs fixing".

Mudge the 'Skins fan

ps...I fail to see anything racist about the Cleveland mascot. Racism is mostly in the eye of the beholder.

X2

In keeping with the warbirds topic, if Cleveland wanted a plane on their helmets, I don't know what kind of plane Cleveland could use and be applicable to the area. Maybe Ohio related, the Wright Brothers....the Cleveland Kittyhawks maybe! :-D
